Miluven is a private chat app built on the open XMPP network and made in Europe. Messages, photos, voice messages and calls are end-to-end encrypted with OMEMO. Miluven runs no chat server of its own: sign in with any XMPP account, from the server your family, employer or provider gave you, or one you host yourself.

Because XMPP is an open standard, you can talk to friends on other servers and other apps by sharing your XMPP address, and invite people with a link.

Features
• End-to-end encryption with OMEMO (or OpenPGP)
• Encrypted audio and video calls
• Images, files, voice messages, location sharing and emoji reactions
• Polls in group chats: encrypted, anonymous, with an optional close time
• GIF search with your own GIPHY key, for when words are not enough
• Chat wallpapers to give each conversation its own look
• Private group chats and public channels
• Read indicators, typing notifications and message editing
• Multiple accounts in one inbox
• Material Design 3 with dynamic colours
• Low impact on battery life

Two modes
On first start you choose Strict or Normal. Strict keeps the app to text, media, voice and calls and talks to nothing but your XMPP server. Normal adds polls and GIF search. You can switch at any time in Settings.

Privacy
Made in the Netherlands with European privacy expectations: Miluven does not track you and contains no analytics or advertising. Polls, GIF search and optional photo compression talk to other services only in Normal mode and only when you use them; the app tells you what is sent. The full privacy policy is at https://miluven.app/privacy.

Miluven is free software (GPLv3) based on Conversations by Daniel Gultsch.
